Dan Wolf, Pastor

Dan has been married to the love of his life and best friend Carrie for 11 years. They cherish many adventures with their 5-year-old son, Coen, and 3-year-old daughter, Imogen, and infant daughter, Phoebe.

Dan grew up in Charleston, SC and came to faith on a mission trip at 15. This adolescent experience led him to pastor youth for 7 years in Columbia, SC. During this time, he studied philosophy at University of South Carolina and received his Masters of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Dan went on to serve as the associate pastor of an Anglican church in Jacksonville, FL for 6 years.

Dan and Carrie fell in love with the natural beauty and culture of Maine, especially since Carrie had been spending every summer here since she was 7. They spent two years praying and discerning God’s call to start a church in Portland and are excited to be home.

Dan is passionate about Gospel identity and walking alongside others as they discover the adventure of following Jesus on mission. He loves good beer, coffee, and conversations. In his free time he enjoys hiking, training for Spartan races, and exploring islands in their old Whaler on the Maine Coast.

Sarah Bohnhoff, Children’s Formation Coordinator

Sarah grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At the University of New Mexico she learned about Psychology, Political Science, - and Jesus. Sarah spent her 20s in Pittsburgh, where she worked as a nanny, then preschool teacher, and had two children of her own with her husband, James. In 2022, Sarah and her family moved to the Portland area. Sarah didn't bring nearly enough cold-weather clothes to Maine, but she did bring her passion for early childhood education.

Sarah believes strongly in supporting children's social-emotional development. In her role as Children's Formation Coordinator she aims to create a safe, supportive and enriching environment in which the children of Rise can grow.

Olivia Hamlin, Portland Fellow

Olivia is a native to Portland who recently moved back after college. Olivia completed her Bachelors of Social Work and Equine Studies at Asbury University and her Master of Clinical Social Work at Baylor University in 2020. As a gap year between undergrad and grad school, Olivia lived in Vienna, Austria for a year as a part of a missions and theology program.

Olivia is familiar with the culture of Maine and knows first hand the nature of Christianity in the North. Coming to faith in high school, Olivia grew exponentially in her faith while immersed in a Christian college environment.

Today, Olivia works as a social worker with kids in the juvenile justice system, enjoys riding her horse and exploring new places to hike with her dog. Olivia is most passionate about discipleship and radical community and hospitality within the Portland area. Olivia hopes to explore the mental health field as it relates to ministry and find new ways to connect with locals throughout her year as a fellow.

Portland Fellows

Portland Fellows is an intentional year of discipleship and mission focused on helping young adults grow as leaders and discover the significance of their story, gifts, and passions. It gives them practical and hands-on leadership opportunities in ministry and the marketplace. It is designed to help them discern their core calling and values in order to launch them into their next phase of life with a sense of clarity and confidence as kingdom leaders.

Dannett King, Administrator

Dannett has been married to husband Jonathan for 8 years. They have two fun kids, Gabriella and Lincoln. Dannett grew up in the suburbs of Atlanta, GA. After a few years of marriage Jonathan and Dannett decided to move closer to Jonathan's family in Jacksonville FL. Where they currently have just fallen in love with the area.

Dannett surrendered her life to Jesus at the age of 20 after spending time in Costa Rica with a church group. Felt the Lord's call to ministry overseas. Started pursuing where the Lord was leading, worked in an Elderly community where she developed the love to serve which took her down the medical path and did that before having kids. After having kids and moving to Jacksonville realized her gift in administration while serving the local church.

Hobbies include baking, making crafts for kids to enjoy and sitting at the beach enjoying sunsets.

Carrie Wolf, Communications Director

When Carrie is not working as a pediatric ICU nurse at Barbara Bush Children's Hospital, she is partnered with Dan in church planting. This dual calling was born out of her lifelong desire to be a part of Jesus’ mission to invite all people to explore the deeper questions of life, faith, and meaning.

In her spare time, Carrie likes watching movies, exploring small towns, trying new restaurants, expressing her artistic side through restoring old things, and cruising around Casco Bay in her old Whaler. She really enjoys connecting with new people while out trail running or while taking the kids on various nature adventures around Portland. Carrie oversees hospitality and maintains social media for Rise Church.
